Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 championships have been won on hard surfaces

A revitalized Medvedev claimed his maiden championship for over two years with a win over opponent Moutet in the tournament championship match.

The Russian, a ex- number one, has experienced a torrid period, winning just a single victory at the big events and experiencing a difficult moment at the American major.

The player's varied form on the tennis tour - and issues with his serve in specific - caused him exiting of the world's top 10 and finally parting ways with long-time coach his previous coach.

Presently working with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, he has steadily improved in the last few weeks - peaking in a hard-fought competitive victory over challenger Moutet.

It is the player's first trophy following the Rome competition and initial on a hard surface since spring of 2023.

The win also indicates he has secured twenty-one victories at 21 various competitions.

"It's the first time I have attended a tournament with my children at once, so to secure a championship is especially meaningful," commented tennis professional the champion.

"This victory is in dedication of my younger daughter my daughter, because the maiden victory I won when my first daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his last six title deciders, featuring in that event earlier this year.

His retrieving strategy and frequent emotional displays on the tennis court had caused commentators to wonder if his skill to compete at the highest level was over.

However the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, attempting to approach the net and compete positively, supported by an enhanced service.

The champion came back from a disadvantage in the opening set against the difficult opponent, taking four of the last five exchanges to take the lead.

The pair exchanged service breaks in the middle set before Moutet, striving for his maiden ATP Tour championship, gained dominance to force a third set.

The opponent defended four early-game opportunities in a tight deciding set before the Russian secured a break to that score to secure the win.

Suitably, the winner secured the win with a point at the front of the court, with his opponent incapable to control a return after over two and a half hours.
